Accessible collections
We offer a wide range of materials in alternate formats, including:

- Downloadable eBooks and audiobooks
- Books on compact disc
- DVDs and Blu-ray movies with closed-caption features
Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA)
Haldimand County Public Library is a member of the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) – a national non-profit organization established by Canadian libraries to serve customers who have a visual, learning, or physical disability that prevents them from reading conventional print.
DAISY audiobooks
DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) is an international format standard developed by libraries for the blind. They are meant to be played on DAISY-compatible machines such as VictorReaders. The Library currently has three VictorReader DAISY playback device that can be requested for in-library use.
The Library maintains an on-site collection of more than 2,000 DAISY audiobooks across all of our library branches. These DAISY audiobooks cover a a wide variety of genres including thrillers, mysteries, science fiction, biographies, travel, history and more.
The borrowing period for DAISY books is 4 weeks, with 1 renewal allowed per title. Learn more about borrowing.

Accessible services
Home delivery
The Library offers a wide range of materials for home delivery for members permanently or temporarily confined to their homes due to injury, illness or disability. Materials are delivered and picked up by volunteers every other week. Other circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
You can request specific titles or we can select materials for you based on your reading, viewing and listening preferences.
